Erawan National Park: A Day of Adventure, Achievement and Teamwork
One of the highlights of our Thailand journey so far has been our visit to the breathtaking Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi, home to Thailand’s famous seven-tier waterfall.
Supporting Each Other Every Step of the Way
We set off together with a shared goal, but at a pace that suited everyone.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was seeing learners support, encourage and celebrate each other’s achievements throughout the hike. Every milestone mattered, whether it was reaching the first waterfall, overcoming a fear of heights to continue further up the trail, or making it all the way to the seventh and final tier.
The route challenged individuals in different ways, but the positive atmosphere within the group meant nobody felt they were tackling it alone. Encouragement, patience and teamwork were evident from start to finish.
Conquering the Seven-Tier Waterfall
Erawan Waterfall is made up of seven spectacular levels, each offering its own beautiful pools and unique scenery.
The ultimate achievement was reaching the seventh waterfall at the very top. The challenging climb was rewarded with incredible views and a real sense of accomplishment.
The learners achieved personal goals along the way, including pushing beyond fears and reaching waterfall four, while many took the opportunity to pause and appreciate the stunning surroundings at the lower levels.
The experience reminded us that success looks different for everyone, and every achievement deserves recognition.
Swimming in Nature’s Pools
One of the most enjoyable parts of the day was cooling off in the crystal-clear pools beneath the waterfalls.
At waterfall three, several learners braved the famous fish that gently nibble at swimmers’ feet. For some, this was a hilarious experience; for others, it took a little courage before they were willing to dip their toes in the water!
The opportunity to swim among the waterfalls provided a memorable way to connect with the natural environment and appreciate the beauty of one of Thailand’s most treasured natural attractions.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
While the waterfalls provided plenty of adventure, the day also offered important lessons in resilience, confidence and wellbeing.
Learners challenged themselves physically, overcame personal barriers and encouraged others to keep going. These experiences build valuable life skills that cannot always be taught in a classroom.
Seeing individuals achieve goals they may not have thought possible at the start of the day was a reminder of how international experiences can help people grow in confidence and discover new strengths.
Reflection by the River Kwai
After drying off and returning to the hotel for a quick shower and change, we headed into Kanchanaburi for the evening.
The local night market offered an opportunity to experience more of Thailand’s vibrant culture, with stalls selling local food, crafts and souvenirs. Learners spent time exploring the market before gathering together once again for an evening meal beside the historic River Kwai.
As the sun began to set, we took time to reflect on the day’s achievements and share our favourite moments. From reaching new heights at Erawan to swimming beneath waterfalls and supporting one another along the way, there was plenty to celebrate.
More Than a Waterfall Walk
Our day at Erawan National Park perfectly captured what the Turing Scheme is all about.
It wasn’t simply a visit to a beautiful location. It was an opportunity to build confidence, develop resilience, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories through shared experiences.
From the turquoise waters of the waterfalls to an evening by the River Kwai, it was a day that will stay with our learners long after the trip has ended.
