Gain the skills and expertise you need to make a positive impact in the classroom and help children achieve better outcomes

Everyone remembers a good teacher who can inspire children by being a positive role model. Having the opportunity to work with children, to help them develop and grow, is not only extremely rewarding, but it can also boost their life chances and give them everything they need to reach their full potential.

If you’re serious about working with children in a school setting, as a teaching or classroom assistant, then Orange Moon Training can help. We can provide all the training you will need to find your ideal role and develop your career. We offer courses at all levels, all of which have been specially designed to equip you with the skills and expertise you need to guide the children you work with through childhood and help them shine brighter.

We offer an end-to-end solution for schools, from introductory/taster sessions at Level 1 through to Post Graduate Teacher Apprenticeships at Level 6. We can also offer apprenticeships for key non-teaching support roles, such as school or business managers.

Funding is available for most of our courses to help you access the training you need to pursue your career aspirations and improve the outcomes of the children you work with.

Working in schools

There are many opportunities to develop your childcare career in a school setting and work with children of all age groups. Classroom teacher aside, one of the main roles that involves working with children in schools is as a teaching or classroom assistant.

This involves supporting teachers with their day-to-day classroom activities and helping children with their learning and social development. It’s a diverse but rewarding role, delivering a range of activities including literacy and numeracy lessons, planning and record-keeping, classroom management, playground supervision and assisting with outings and trips.

You may also get the opportunity to work with children individually or in small groups, as well as support children with Special Educational Needs.

Teaching assistant is an extremely important and popular role, so it can be difficult to secure a job. Our Teaching Assistant Academy can help you achieve your ambitions.

Our school training solutions

We’ve supported schools across the UK since 2015 and continue to deliver a wide range of training solutions, including:

Our Teaching Assistant Academy Programme helps schools to recruit and develop quality individuals for their teaching staff. We also work with link schools for our home-based early years’ educators to support children in the transition to their local primary schools.

Teaching Assistant Academy Programme

Our Teaching Assistant Academy Programme is designed to identify and develop the next generation classroom-based childcare professionals.

It gives schools the opportunity to ‘Grow Your Own’ staff with the skills and experience they need to thrive within your organisation, whether that’s a primary or comprehensive school, an academy or a private school.

The programme is tailored to individuals looking for a career working with children in a school setting.

Candidates are taken through a fully funded and structured training programme.

Schools can work with academy students on a voluntary basis to help them monitor and mould potential classroom assistants with no obligation to employ.

You can observe how they perform in your school and ensure they would be a good fit before formally offering a job as an apprentice and beyond.

And if you have specific vacancies to fill, we can run a fully funded academy for your business designed to give candidates all the skills and knowledge required by your school.

Teaching Assistant Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are an excellent way for schools to recruit new staff with a passion for working with children.

You can also use apprenticeships to upskill your existing team with a funded Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.

Different schools have different needs and work with different profiles of children. They also operate in a variety of socio-economic climates and have specific developmental targets and a distinctive ethos. We’ve designed our accredited apprenticeship qualifications to meet the fast-changing environments in nurseries and pre-schools. We understand the day-to-day issues with staffing and ratios and can tailor apprenticeship frameworks to your needs.

We’re keen to ensure our training programmes are accessible to all candidates to reflect the unique make-up and diversity of your school’s community. We can provide additional learning and pastoral support to apprentices to enable them to complete their training and transition successfully into the classroom environment.

Post Graduate Teacher Apprenticeships

Our sister brand, Orange Moon Education, delivers a Post Graduate Teacher Apprenticeship.

This is a 12-15 month, fully funded and salaried teacher training programme, with flexible entry points leading to Qualified Teacher Status.

While this collaborative teacher training programme offers on the job training, it also presents an ideal opportunity for education establishments to upskill existing graduate support staff, while keeping them in paid employment within your school.

It can also open-up opportunities to recruit new graduate trainee teachers.

This programme helps to combat the prevalent recruitment issues across the education sector, supporting schools in succession planning and facilitate schools in maximising the full potential of their workforce.
