School Visits and Robotics in Udaipur

Exploring Education, Innovation and Culture in Udaipur

Week two of our Turing Scheme adventure brought us to the beautiful city of Udaipur, often known as the “City of Lakes”. Combining educational visits with cultural exploration, our learners continued to broaden their understanding of life, learning and innovation in India.

From visiting local schools and engaging with pupils to exploring a cutting-edge robotics lab and taking in spectacular views across Lake Pichola, Udaipur offered a fascinating blend of tradition and technology.

Experiencing School Life in Udaipur

A key focus of the week was visiting local schools and spending time with both pupils and teachers.

Our learners were warmly welcomed into classrooms where they observed lessons, interacted with children and gained further insight into the Indian education system. The visits provided excellent opportunities to compare teaching approaches, curriculum delivery and classroom environments with those experienced in the UK.

Learners actively participated in activities with younger children, joining songs, games and classroom interactions. These experiences highlighted the universal importance of creating engaging learning environments where children can learn through participation and enjoyment.

The visits also reinforced the strong sense of community and respect that exists within many Indian schools.

Discovering Innovation in a Robotics Lab

One of the most exciting experiences of the week was a visit to a Robotics Lab, where learners were introduced to the latest developments in technology and innovation.

The visit provided valuable insight into how schools are preparing young people for future careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Learners explored how robotics, coding and problem-solving are being integrated into education, helping students develop skills that will be increasingly important in the modern workplace.

The experience demonstrated how schools are embracing innovation while encouraging creativity, critical thinking and practical application of knowledge.

For many of our learners, seeing these facilities first-hand offered an inspiring glimpse into how technology is shaping the future of education around the world.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The educational visits were complemented by opportunities to explore the rich culture and heritage of Udaipur.

One of the highlights was visiting the world-famous Lake Palace, a stunning architectural landmark that appears to float on the waters of Lake Pichola. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the palace provided an opportunity to learn more about Rajasthan’s royal history and cultural heritage.

Walking through the city, learners were able to experience the unique character of Udaipur, where historic buildings, vibrant streets and spectacular lakes combine to create one of India’s most beautiful destinations.

 An Evening with Incredible Views

After a busy day of learning and exploration, the group enjoyed an evening meal at a terrace restaurant overlooking the lake.

The stunning setting provided the perfect opportunity to reflect on the experiences of the week while taking in panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscape. Watching the sun begin to set over the water created a memorable end to another inspiring day.

These moments of reflection are an important part of the Turing Scheme experience, allowing learners to consider what they have learned and how these experiences are shaping their understanding of different cultures and educational systems.

Building Global Perspectives

Our time in Udaipur has demonstrated how education extends far beyond classrooms and textbooks.

By visiting schools, exploring innovative learning environments such as robotics labs, and experiencing India’s rich culture and history, learners are developing valuable skills including adaptability, communication, cultural awareness and global understanding.

The combination of educational visits and cultural experiences continues to make the Turing Scheme a truly transformative opportunity, helping learners build confidence and broaden their horizons while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

As week two continues, we look forward to discovering even more about the people, places and educational practices that make India such an inspiring destination.
